Course Overview

Development programs in general are complex in nature as you need to understand the context you work in, monitor changes that are a result of your project’s interventions, analyse, evaluate and adapt your work accordingly. This sounds simple but is challenging in practice. We’ve got just the tools and skills to help you do that and improve the design and management of your development aid funded projects.

We understand that the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) field is continuously advancing and it’s imperative for development practitioners to keep up with the movement. This online course has been designed to include what matters, filtering out a lot of the noise around M&E. The course focuses on a mixture of
Theory and practice individually and in small group discussions. You will benefit from an engaging and interactive sessions that are engineered for active participation with your trainer and classmates.

Learning Outcomes

1. 1. You will learn the most recent monitoring, evaluation, and learning practices, theories, concepts, tools and core skills you need to improve your job’s readiness as a Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning officer.
   2. You will learn how to think using logic and evidence when designing, managing and evaluating development aid funded projects.
   3. You will learn what should you monitor and measure? What is ‘good enough’ measurement, and how to collaboratively analyse data, learn and adapt project’s performance accordingly.
   4. You will learn how to address most common challenges MEL officers usually face and how to elevate the role of MEL officer in steering and managing development projects more meaningfully.

   • Results chain and results framework.
   • Introduction to Theory of Change
2. Measure & Monitor:
   • Develop Key Performance Indicators
   • Data collection tools
   • Structure of project’s MEL Plan.
3. Learn & Adapt:
   • Introduction to data analysis and reporting
   • Introduction to Collaborative Learning and Adaptation
   • Organizational implications of MEL.
4. Evaluate:
   • Introduction to evaluation
   • DAC evaluation criteria and its relationship with results chain.
   • Evaluation process management
   • Evaluation report outline

Additional Information

• 8 interactive online session facilitated by our highly experienced consultant.
  Each live session lasts 90 minutes.
  
• Certificate:
  You will get your certificate by either one of the following conditions:
  • Attend at least 65% of the live sessions.
  • Passing an online 30-minutes exam of 45 multiple choice questions exam
• Presentations, materials, and training instructions are in English.
• This course is a foundation to intermediate level.
  It targets development practitioners across doners and doers and anyone in between of the development-aid sector.
