Save the Children Italy implemented the “Safer Environment for Children” Project (SEC), funded by the Italian-Egyptian Debt for Development Swap Program in Cairo and Alexandria governorates in cooperation with Hope Village Society and the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood over 18 months. The purpose of the project is to create a safer environment for street and Other Vulnerable Children by strengthening Egyptian child protection mechanisms at the national and local levels to respond to their needs. Program activities span over two governorates with twelve targeted urban, semi-rural and rural areas and build on the existing resources in the targeted communities to create a better environment for street children and OVCs. To achieve this goal, Beit Al Karma Consulting was selected to conduct a baseline survey to:

  • Identify the current situation of street children in the targeted communities;
  • Explore the available and existing potentials in the targeted communities upon which the project can build on
  • Identify the awareness and outreaching messages for all community segments and services providers
