Baseline Survey of Street Children and Children at Risk

Save the Children Italy implemented the “Safer Environment for Children” Project, funded by the Italian-Egyptian Debt for Development Swap Program in Cairo and Alexandria governorates in cooperation with Hope Village Society and National Council for Motherhood and Childhood for 18 months. The purpose of the project is to create a safer environment for street and other vulnerable Children by strengthening Egyptian child protection mechanisms at the national and local levels to respond to their needs.

The baseline study assessed the current situation of street children in the targeted communities; conducted mapping and capacity assessment of existing and potential services providers, capacity assessment of the District Child Protection Committees as well as assessed community attitudes towards street children and their rights.
