Our Trainers

Alaa Shaheen has 25+ years of experience in leading, managing and for 30+ mid-term and final evaluation missions for development-aid funded projects in Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine. Alaa has received training in the design of participatory MEL projects plans from Ford Foundation, and a Training of Trainers from the International Labor Organization. He works as a lecturer and trainer in DAAD and at the American University in Cairo. Alaa holds a master’s degree in project management from Brighton University, UK, and a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering from the American University in Cairo.

Nermine Habib has 15+ years of experience in leading, managing and reporting mid-term and final evaluation missions of development funded projects implemented by UNHCR, IOM, GIZ, Plan International, Care and Save the Children. Nermine holds double master’s degrees in Conflict Resolution and Peace Building as well as in Sociolinguistics studies. She has received intensive training in Monitoring and Evaluation from UNICEF, France and MDF Consulting of the Netherlands.
Training Delivery Format
- Course duration: The 12-hour online, expert-led training spans eight 90-minute sessions over four weeks, i.e. 8 X 1.5-hour facilitated online training session over 4 weeks
- Presentations, materials, and training instructions are in English.
- You practice the tools and methods through various assignments / working groups discussions and get direct feedback from trainer’s & peers.
- On average, we estimate participants should set aside 4-6 hours per week to complete this course.
Certificate
Earn your certificate by attending at least 75% of the live sessions or by passing a 30-minute online exam with 45 multiple-choice questions measuring 14 competency skills in monitoring, evaluation and learning skills (MEL)
Partial Scholarships Places
Partial scholarship (50%-80% fees deduction) available for young Monitoring and Evaluation practitioners from the Global South with less than 3 years of experience in international development, non-profits, management consulting, engineering, ICT, and other professional services providers.
