Meet the Trainer

With over 25 years of experience, Alaa Shaheen has led bids and proposals securing contracts and grants worth hundreds of millions of US dollars. His impressive 80% success rate in competitive pursuits reflects his expertise in crafting winning proposals.
For 15 years, Alaa served as the Business and Proposal Development Director for AECOM International Development in MENA, shaping strategies for major international funding agencies, public institutions, universities, and private sector clients.
He lectures on proposal writing and fundraising best practices at the American University in Cairo and the German Institute for Academic Exchange (DAAD).
Alaa holds a master’s degree in project management from Brighton University, UK, and a bachelor’s degree in construction engineering from the American University in Cairo.

- We expect that participants will spend 2-3 hours per week on readings and assignments to put your new skills into practice. .
- We record every live session on Zoom and share them with the course’s participants, so participants don’t miss a beat!
- The course is based on a participatory and active learning approach.
- Handouts, presentations, and training instructions are in English.
- You will get your certificate by either attending the min of 65% of the live sessions or passing an online exam ( passing grade is 60%) which include 45 multiple-choice questions. Exam duration is 30 minutes.
